Volkswagen has refreshed the locally built Polo Vivo, with numerous interior and exterior enhancements. Updates include a new front-end design, a new infotainment system, new seat trim design and enhanced safety features.
Since its introduction in 2010, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo has been South Africa’s top selling model, with over 425 000 units sold over the 14 years and Volkswagen believe that the latest round of updates will ensure that it continues as SA’s favourite passenger vehicle for some time to come.
Affordability, German build quality, enhanced safety, space and comfort are some of the key attributes that have come to define the Polo Vivo.
Updated exterior
The new Polo Vivo is distinguished by a new front end which includes a 2D Volkswagen badge, redesigned front bumper incorporating daytime running lights, fog lights and new headlights as well as upper and lower grille with chrome accents.
The rear end is fitted with a new 2D Volkswagen badge, sitting above the Vivo name in chrome which has now been centred. The new model also introduces fresh colours including Ascote grey, Pure White, Reflex Silver, reef Blue, Smokey Grey and Wild Chery Red to the offering.
The Polo Vivo range is now differentiated by a new naming convention which includes the Vivo, Life, Style and GT nameplates.
Black painted mirror caps add a sleek and sophisticated touch to GT models, while new 15 and 16-inch wheels which are standard on Life and Style models enhance the vehicle’s appeal and driving dynamics.
The wheel line-up consists of the standard steel wheels for the Vivo (14-inch) and optional 15-inch Tosa alloy wheel, 15-inch Ubomi alloy wheel on the Life models, 16-inch Portago for the Style and the 17-inch Mirabeau alloy wheel which comes standard on the top of the range GT model.
New interior trims and infotainment across the range
All derivatives feature new interior trims. Facilitating seamless connectivity and entertainment is a new infotainment system featuring a nine-inch Mirgor radio with four or six-speakers and App-Connect. The seats have been updated with new materials and designs which now incorporate front side airbags on Style and GT models for additional safety.
In fact some of the biggest improvements have been in the safety department with all Vivo derivatives now featuring Electronic Stability Control, hill start control and remote central locking. An optional rear-view camera increases convenience and safety.
