The refreshed Volkswagen Touareg went on sale in South Africa at the beginning of August. The brands top of the range premium SUV, which was launched in 2018, has received numerous updates, including new design elements and high-tech features.
Premium exterior updates
The front end has been revamped, with the entire upper radiator grille emphasising the vehicles width. All new IQ.Light HD matrix headlights with three LED modules and three L-shaped LEDs for daytime running lights, as well as a new illuminated centre horizontal strip that extends from both sides of the Volkswagen logo ensures a particularly striking front end.
The IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights ensure a glare-free main beam as the interactive LEDs make sure that the masking area for oncoming traffic and vehicles approaching from ahead is more precise than ever before.
The unit formed by the radiator grille, headlights and front apron has been given a new look. The design of the rear end is also sharper and now features a continuous horizontal LED strip for the taillight clusters while incorporating a Volkswagen logo, which is illuminated in red. Rear lights have been upgraded to IQ.Light LED taillight clusters with dynamic brake and turn signal functions. New Volkswagen logo projections via exterior mirror housings that provide surrounding lighting add a premium touch. Reworked bumpers round off the bodywork enhancements while the available alloy wheel designs have been updated.
Interior updates
Interior updates include upgrades to the standard equipment offering. Standard voice control has been improved and USB-C connections, now with a charging capacity of 45 watts ensure faster charging of devices. The overall high quality of the interior has been improved with touches such as softer centre console trims for extra comfort as well as updated interior trims featuring a specific design, electrically adjustable leather seats and 30 colour ambient lighting with adjustable colour settings across three zones, which include footwell and drink holder illumination.
The Touareg is equipped with several convenience and assistance systems as standard, while a variety of optional systems such as Travel Assist, Area view camera and Night vision are now available.
