Toyota have added the Starlet Cross to their offering, bolstering their Crossover and SUV lineup. The Toyota Starlet Cross joins other affordable models in the compact car segment sourced from Toyota’s alliance with Suzuki which includes the Vitz, Starlet and Urban Cruiser.
Modern SUV design
The Toyota Starlet Cross is a fusion of SUV practicality and contemporary hatchback design and boasts an aerodynamically sculpted silhouette designed to turn heads.
Upfront a striking grille with chrome garnish commands attention, flanked by LED headlamps that enhance visibility. Twin LED Daytime Running Lights add a touch of sophistication.
At the rear, the Starlet Cross is distinguished by connected LED taillights, a sporty rear skid plate and a roof spoiler.
Inside comfort meets functionality
Inside, the Starlet offers ample space in an interior where comfort meets functionality. The cabin features a three-tone dashboard adorned with premium finishes in charcoal, silver and Bordeaux. High quality cloth upholstery ensures comfort on long journeys and the steering wheel is finished in leather.
A modern infotainment system measures either seven or nine-inches and facilitates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring capability.
Under the bonnet
The Toyota Starlet Cross is powered by the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which offers responsive power delivery across the rev range, rated at 77kW at 6 000rpm and 138Nm at 4 400rpm. The engine can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed torque convertor automatic, both options do a great job of delivering power to the front wheels.
The Starlet Cross offers a great balance between performance and fuel economy and is said to use just 5,6 litres/100km in the manual configuration and 5,8 litres/100km when paired with the four-speed automatic.
Comprehensive safety specification
As with all Toyota products, safety is paramount, and the Starlet Cross boasts Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.
Keeping occupants safe in the event of a collision are six airbags in XR models, while the XS is fitted with a driver and front passenger airbag.
