Volkswagen have given the T-Cross a thorough refresh. This includes a revamped design, enhanced standard equipment, new technology features and a newly designed high-quality interior.
A high level of standard specification includes features such as the new LED headlights, new LED taillight clusters, a multifunction camera, dynamic road sign display, a digital cockpit and a new free-standing infotainment system for all models.
The Volkswagen T-Cross is the smallest member of the brands T family of SUVs which shares its MQB A0 platform with the sixth-generation Polo hatchback. The T-Cross is also Volkswagens best-selling SUV, and it looks to build on that momentum thanks this latest round of substantial updates.
Fresh exterior and new colours
The exterior is differentiated by a new front and rear design which includes new LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillight clusters along with new bumpers. The IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are also being offered on the T-Cross for the first time. On Style and R-Line derivatives the IQ.Light package includes full LED taillights with animation, an illuminated strip on the radiator grille as well as the Dynamic Light Assist system, which allows permanent main beam. The exterior modernisation is accentuated by three striking new colours which include Grape Yellow, Clear Blue Metallic and Kings Red Metallic.
Massive interior improvements
The inside of the T-Cross has been significantly upgraded. The dash panel has undergone a complete redesign and is now finished with premium, soft-upholstered and significantly higher-quality materials. The same improvements have been applied to the front door trims of the Style and R-Line versions. These two changes alone contribute significantly to enhanced interior quality and improved passenger comfort.
A new free-standing infotainment display is centrally mounted and measures either eight or 9.2-inches. All models are now fitted with digital instruments ahead of the driver as standard.
The interior space of the T-Cross continues to outperform its exterior dimensions with space for up to five people and a luggage capacity of up to 455 litres.
Added tech
Safety and convenience have been optimised with the fitment of a variety of assistance systems including Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control, Cornering Assist, Lane Assist and Emergency Assist in addition to Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Front Assist and Pedestrian Monitoring.
Under the bonnet
All T-Cross derivatives are powered by the same 1.0 TSI engine offering 85kW and paired to a seven-speed DSG transmission. This package allows the T-Cross to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 10.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 193km/h while using just 5,6 litres per 100km.
Revised model line up
The updated T-Cross range includes Life, Style and R-Line derivatives. All models feature LED headlights, LED taillight clusters, the Digital Cockpit and the free-standing infotainment display.
Life models ride on 16-inch Nottingham alloy wheels and feature electric folding mirrors with puddle lamps, front and rear Park Distance Control, cruise control, black roof rails and inductive charging.
The Style derivative builds on this offering with the addition of IQ Matrix LED headlights and Dynamic Light Assist for optimal illumination and safety. Style models ride on 17-inch Manila alloy wheels and are differentiated by an illuminated strip between the headlights and chrome roof rails. Inside, the T-Cross Style boasts sport seats, a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and a dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning system.
The T-Cross R-Line combines sporty elegance with cutting edge technology, which includes IQ Matrix LED headlights, distinctive R-Line interior and exterior styling elements and 17-inch Valencia alloy wheels. An illuminated strip between the headlights as well as a rear light strip with wiping signal enhance the striking design. The interior is enhanced by the fitment of ArtVelour R-Line seats, stainless steel pedals and the addition of driving profile selection.
