Kia have added a new value for money derivative to their Sonet range which was launched earlier this year. The new Sonet LS offers an exciting combination of style, features and value with a starting price of under R300 000. Despite being positioned as the entry level model, the Sonet LS retains all the features and quality that Kia is known for.
From the outside the Sonet LS shares the same striking exterior design as its siblings and is visually identical to the Sonet LX, with the only difference being the use of steel wheels with stylish wheel covers as opposed to alloys.
The Kia Sonet LS is powered by Kia’s familiar, naturally aspirated 1.5-litre MPI engine and can be paired with either a five-speed manual or a CVT transmission. This fuel-efficient engine produces a respectable 85kW at 6 300rpm and 144Nm at 4 500rpm.
The Sonet LS boasts the same spacious, high-quality interior as its siblings, with a familiar cabin layout featuring an eight-inch touchscreen and a combination of black cloth and synthetic leather upholstered seats.
The inherent engineering of the Sonet is complimented by features such as ABS with EBD, ESC, Hill-start-assist control, Isofix child seat anchors, dual front airbags, central locking and an immobiliser.
The discontinuation of the Rio hatchback left many customers with a great desire for a spacious, comfortable and well-specified successor under R300 000 and Kia believe that the new Sonet LS ticks these boxes.
A well-equipped range throughout
The remainder of the Sonet range has remained unchanged since its launch in June this year and includes the Sonet LX that adds rear parking sensors, rear fog lamps, roof rails and cruise control to the standard specification. The high-mounted stop lamp in the rear spoiler, rear combination lamps, positioning lamps and front daytime running lights are upgraded to LED technology.
The Sonet EX Plus adds additional features including an upgrade to a 10.25-inch infotainment screen which integrates with the 10.25-inch TFT LCD Supervision instrument cluster. EX models also gain full artificial leather upholstery, an electrochromic rearview mirror and a wireless charging pad. Exterior improvements include 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
The top of the range Sonet SX adds a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems to the offering, which makes this model unique in its segment. This technology includes Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Follow Assist and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, while Drive Mode Select allows the driver to select from Comfort, Eco, Sport and Smart sub-settings.
Value for money redefined
For the remainder of 2024, Kia will also be offering support with up to R40 000 in deal assistance across the rest of the Sonet range.
