One of the most exciting model launches for 2025 will undoubtedly be that of the all-new Renault Duster. The current generation has been well loved by South Africans due to its roomy interior in relation to its exterior dimensions, frugal engine and surprising off-road ability.
The all-new Renault Duster is set to go on sale in South Africa in March and features a familiar silhouette but has been extensively modernised. The front grille now incorporates large Renault lettering which floats in the grille. This central feature is flanked by slim Y-shaped headlights. The new Duster retains the black cladding along the lower edges, which contributes to the rugger look.
The rear is completely modern too, with LED taillights located on the outer edges and a boot spoiler that finishes things off. Up top roof rails add to the practicality. Depending on the model, the Duster will be fitted with either 17 or 18-inch wheels.
Vastly improved interior
The interior represents a massive improvement over the outgoing model. The cabin is finished with premium, hard wearing materials, painted accents, toggle style switches, an electronic handbrake, compact toggle style gear selector on automatic models, a digital instrument cluster and a floating touchscreen.
Under the bonnet
Another big change is that the Duster will no longer be offered with the diesel engine that endowed it with exceptional fuel economy. Instead the new Duster will be offered in three different derivatives, all of which will be powered by a petrol engine.
The three models on offer are set to include a 4x2 with either a manual or an automatic transmission as well as a 4x4 model fitted with a manual transmission exclusively.
The off-road credentials of the Duster remain impressive and include 209mm ground clearance for 4x2 models. 4x4 derivatives stand 217mm above the ground along with 31- and 36-degree approach and departure angles.
Pricing
Exact pricing of the all-new Renault Duster is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to come in below the R500 000 mark.
