Ford have re-entered the five-seater compact SUV segment with the launch of the all-new Territory.
Modern, progressive design
The new Territory features Ford’s new design philosophy which they call ‘Progressive Energy in Strength’ and which embodies fundamental design principles that include; commanding, agile and responsive.
The front-end is framed coast-to coast by the integrated grille and LED daytime running lights and the strong corners with integrated main lamps enhance the Territory’s look of readiness, purpose and stability.
A strong shoulder line enhances the power and progressive energy of the contemporary design language while elements in the body and rear of the vehicle emphasise 3D floating graphics and represent youthfulness and energy. Innovative LED lighting is used for the front and rear lights.
Well-equipped interior
The interior is modern and spacious, with abundant technology seamlessly integrated to provide an intuitive user experience. Soft-wrapped inserts punctuated by stitching and high-quality finishes create a sense of layering, which contributes to a smart, modern and warm environment.
At the centre of the interior is a panoramic display that integrates a 12.3-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster on the Titanium model, or a seven-inch TFT cluster with primary analogue gauges on the Ambiente and Trend.
All models feature a 12.3-inch landscape infotainment touchscreen that can be operated by touch or a rotary controller on the centre console. Naturally this system allows for smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The double-deck console design incorporates wireless phone charging on Trend and Titanium models.
Ambiente models are finished with dark Domino fabric trim while the Trend features high-quality Domino vinyl trim. Titanium models are differentiated by two-tone Peacock Blue and Domino full leather that reinforces the sophistication and upmarket appeal.
First class safety
All Territory models are equipped with an extensive range of standard driver assist and collision mitigation features including Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Emergency Brake Assist and EBD, Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. A total of six airbags are provided.
In addition, Titanium models gain a Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Assist as well as Traffic Jam Assistant, Automatic Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Under the bonnet
The new Territory is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine that offers 138kW and 318Nm. Drive is transferred to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Gear selection is by means of a rotary e-Shifter located in the centre console, in combination with an electronic parking brake. Four selectable drive modes optimise power, torque and fuel efficiency according to driving conditions.
Model range and pricing
The Territory is sold with a four-year/120 000km warranty and customers have the option of purchasing an extended Ford Protect Service or Maintenance plan upgrade at an additional cost.
