BMW Motorrad have lifted the covers off their near production ready Concept F 450 GS, which represents a whole new model series that is expected to slot into their line up between the BMW G 310 and F 800/900.
The development goals for the BMW Concept F 450 GS included ensuring that it offers the best handling in the segment along with strong performance and optimal accessibility as well as riding pleasure both on and off-road.
The BMW Concept F 450 GS features the characteristic DNA of the GS family along with the sporty appeal of the brands large off-road icon in a particularly compact form.
As with the BMW R 1300 GS, the colour scheme, which includes blue, white and red, with the base colour of Racing Blue metallic represents performance and quality as well as a very dynamic and off-road focused character.
A newly developed twin-cylinder engine
The BMW Concept F 450 GS is fitted with a twin-cylinder engine that has been designed from scratch and which is particularly characterful and eager to rev. The engine delivers a total of 36kW (48hp) along with a superior torque curve right throughout the rev range.
This power output is coupled with compact dimensions, an excellent displacement to power ratio and low weight thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as magnesium.
A riding machine for on and off-road
The chassis of the BMW Concept F 450 GS has also been designed to set new standards in the segment. Designers started with a clean slate and were able to deliver a solution that offers excellent off-road ability and nimble and precise handling on the road. The BMW Concept F 450 GS is also equipped with a fully adjustable upside-down fork and a shock absorber with load-dependent damping.
Diverse equipment for safety and comfort
Taking inspiration from its siblings, the Concept F 450 GS also sets new standards in terms of functionality in its class. The relevant features include BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, performance brakes and freely configurable riding modes. With BMW Connectivity on board and the 6.5-inch TFT display, the seamless integration of the motorcycle and smartphone as well as other accessories is enabled.
What about the production version?
BMW promises no compromises when the Concept F 450 GS moves to production, with only the seat height potentially being lowered for better accessibility and easier handling.
BMW Motorrad plans to unveil the production version of the F 450 GS during the course of 2025.
