Instant Intro - Peugeot 308 CC engine upgrade and automatic
Two changes were made to the aspirational Peugeot 308 CC - the renewed turbocharged 1.6 engine now conforms to strict Euro 5 emission levels, with consumption down and power up by 5kW to 115kW, while a 6-speed automatic-gearbox model has been added, for more convenience and to appeal to a wider motoring audience. The style and substance of the Peugeot 308 CC will now be even higher, thanks to the fresh engine and new gearbox.
The manual model with the new engine is slightly quicker in the benchmark acceleration to 100 test, dropping from 9.8 to 9.6 sec, while it is said that overall response has also improved. Consumption and emissions benefitted, lowering averages from 7.5 to 7.2 l/100km, and from 177 to 167 g/km CO2. Despite the cleaner stronger engine, the price point for the 308 CC manual is still R336 500.
The newly-added auto model gets to 100 in 9.8 seconds, with green figures of 7.7 and 179, showing that Peugeot has fitted a thoroughly modern auto transmission. This model has the same features as the manual, which means a folding hardtop that lets you choose coupe or cabriolet (hence the CC name), seating for 4, and the clever side airbags integrated into the seats. The auto commands a R13 300 premium, for a R349 800 price.
