Instant Intro - Volvo C30 facelift and Volvo C70 Facelift

Volvo did a duo launch of both its 2-door ranges by facelifting the C30 hatch/coupé and the C70 coupé-cabriolet. With this, Volvo is moving its sportiest cars away from the more mainstream sedans to give them their own identity.

Volvo C30 Facelift

The C30 is undoubtedly Volvo's most playful and spontaneous car model to date. Buyers of the Volvo C30 want a car that raises a few eyebrows with its unique style and personality, which is exactly what the new car offers.

The previous safe frontal design makes way for the facelift angled headlamps, "seen in the fresh, self-assured design of the front." The rear of the Volvo C30 has always been appreciated (or the antonym thereof) for its sliced-flat glass tailgate - with the new front-end, the two ends now seem to fall nicely into place. The new front also breaks away by distancing itself visually from the S40 sedan and V50 estate, resembling the C70 cabriolet that also gets the same facelift.

Further exterior tweaks are the optional Orange Flame paintwork (pictured), visible exhaust on high-end models, and for the first time white wheels are available. New interior colour choices are also offered. Active bending headlights are now an option, emergency-brake hazard lights are now standard, with the T5 models exclusively in the R-Design sport package. Being such a unique hatch-type design, the Volvo C30 could compete with 3-door hatchbacks like the A3 Audi or 1 Series BMW, or try to take attention away from smaller coupé like VW Scirocco and Renault Megane. The Volvo C30 is for anyone who wants to get off the hatch "blandwagon".

Volvo C70 Facelift

Thanks to the modern design of being able to assemble 3 different roof sections into a cleverly-folding hardtop, the Volvo C70 can wear either its elegant and hot coupé outfit, or, when the mood takes, transform into a sleek and sporty cabriolet.

The Volvo C70 also received the more pronounced frontal design of the C30. The nose is more wedge-shaped, whereas headlights shift from level rectangular to stretched upwards and back. The most noticeable update at the rear is the use of LED for taillamps. Good news is that the price has also been adjusted downwards to R 529 600, making it a suave and stylishly elegant/sporty alternative to more popular exec cabriolets.
