Toyota and Lexus to launch six new models in 2025


Toyota and Lexus are set to launch six new or improved models in SA this year

Toyota are all set for another bumper year, with plans to launch four new models in 2025 in addition to two exciting new models courtesy of their sister brand, Lexus.

Toyota Corolla Cross

First up is the Corolla Cross which has received numerous updates to ensure that it maintains its sales momentum in a competitive market.
Updates include a bold new look that includes a geometric bumper and grille design as well as redesigned headlamps featuring sequential turn signals. The rear end has been updated with a reimagined light design featuring an inner lens for greater precision.

Inside, additional convenience features include the fitment of an electric parking brake, USB Type-C ports and rear occupant detection. Seating has been updated with reclining seats in the rear and newly designed seat trims featuring dark brown accents. A larger, high-resolution Display Audio screen offers three customisable display options and wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

The Corolla Cross will continue to be offered with two engine choices, which includes a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a fuel efficient 1.8-litre Hybrid.

Toyota Fortuner GR-S

The Fortuner is set to receive the GR-S treatment in March. Like the Hilux GR-S, the Fortuner GR-S will be differentiated by white badging, black 18-inch GR alloy wheels and mirrors, piano black bumper inserts and a black diffuser that forms part of the redesigned lower GR bumper. The interior will be enhanced by GR sport seats covered in Alcantara as well as the fitment of aluminium GR pedals.

Under the skin the suspension has been enhanced with the fitment of GR tuned shock absorbers, while power and torque has been increased to 165kW and 550Nm.

Toyota Hilux Legend 55

Toyota are celebrating 55 years of Hilux in 2025 and will do so with a Legend 55 derivative of their Hilux bakkie which is set to go on sale in July 2025. The Hilux Legend 55 will feature the wide body that was first fitted to the Hilux GR-S as well as a wider track and upgraded suspension. A Legend 55 styling kit will add various unique touches and standard equipment is set to include a roller shutter, bash plate, rubberising, a newly designed styling bar and a towbar.


GR Yaris moves to automatic

Toyota’s WRC derived hot hatch, the Yaris GR has been treated to numerous drivetrain updates.
The biggest update sees the power and torque of the 1.6 litre turbocharged engine bumped to 210kW and 400Nm alongside the fitment of an eight-speed GR Direct Automatic Transmission.

Safety improvements have been made with the addition of features such as all-speed radar cruise control, enhanced system functionality and parking support braking.

Two exciting new Lexus models

Lexus will also be launching two exciting new models. The Lexus 700h is the brands new large SUV that features radical styling which includes a massive front grille. Under the bonnet is a 1MT-HEV hybrid engine that boasts 341kW and 650Nm. Feature highlights include Lexus Safety Sense +3, Safe Exit Assist, Auto Parking and an Ultra Wide band security system. Creature comforts include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, massaging seats as well as front and rear wireless chargers.

The Lexus GX, which is set to go on sale in March combines renowned Lexus luxury with real off-road ability as it offers fans of the brand an alternative to the popular Prado. However the Lexus GX will benefit from the fitment of a more powerful 3.5 litre V6 engine that offers 260kW and 650Nm.

The GX will also be available with two styling packages, with Overtrail models prioritising off-road ability and SE models boasting added luxury.
As such Overtrail models feature a five-seat arrangement, E-KDSS, a multi terrain monitor, crawl control, multi terrain select, an exterior gear carrier, a bash plate and roof rails.
SE grade modes sport a seven-seat interior arrangement and a variety of luxury features that include an electric side-step, 22-inch wheels and massaging front seats.
