Toyota have given their evergreen Fortuner the GR-S treatment, taking this popular SUV to new heights with a blend of excellent off-road capability, refined performance and bold, sporty styling.
Accompanying the most powerful diesel engine yet is GR-S treatment which gives the GR-S the same style and performance as its Toyota Hilux GR-S sibling. The Fortuner GR-S is the fourth model to be offered in this sporty line following the Hilux GR-S, Land Cruiser GR-S and Corolla GR-S.
Sporty exterior design
The Fortuner GR-S features a confident new look thanks to a dynamic GR-S front bumper and reworked lower grille. An aggressive black front spoiler, new fog lamp bezels and a streamlined rear diffuser enhance its sporty, commanding presence.
The Fortuner GR-S rides on 18-inch GR alloy wheels and it is available exclusively in Attitude Black and Platinum Pearl White exterior colours.
Premium, sporty interior
The interior of the Fortuner GR-S adopts a refined, motorsport-inspired environment. A black and red interior theme is complimented by smoke silver metallic and matte carbon trims.
Exclusive GR sport seats, upholstered in perforated leather and suede with striking red stitching and GR-branded headrests offer outstanding comfort and support.
Ahead of the driver a GR-badged steering wheel features a bold red centre mark while the GR-start button and aluminium pedals reinforce this models’ sporty credentials.
Enhanced performance
Under the bonnet of the Fortuner GR-S is a 2.8 GD-6 diesel engine that offers an impressive 165kW and 550Nm, making this model the most powerful Fortuner variant to date. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Built on a rugged ladder-on-frame chassis, the SUV is designed to withstand the harshest conditions in conjunction with its 4x4 and all-wheel drive capabilities. Aiding handling on GR-S models is the fitment of monotube shock absorbers which offer enhanced ride comfort and precise handling.
The Fortuner remains South Africa’s favourite SUV, thanks to a combination of performance, capability and reliability. All features that have been further enhanced on this updated GR-S model.
